Coraline by Neil Gaiman (Harper Collins, 2002)

Story Summary

Coraline goes through a door in her house and ends up in a world just like hers just different. Like, people have big black buttons for eyes and their fingernails are really long. She meets a woman who claims she is Coraline’s “other mother” and that everyone has an “other mother”. The food there is amazing in contrary to her world where her real parents cooking is bad. Her other mother offers Coraline to stay here foverever and all she needs to do is let her sew on big black buttons ontop of her eyes. Coraline refuses and goes back home. But she has to go back to the other world because her other mother kidnapped her real parents. Coraline plays a risky game to retrive her parents and some other souls of children trapped behind the mirror. Neil Gaimans books are in my opinion, sort of like a childrens thriller; not too scary jet a bit unnerving. Overall, it’s pretty good. In my edition of the book, there are pictures of some characters and some are really freaky.

Recommended to anyone from 1 year to 100 years old.
