Book Review: One of Us Is Next by Karen M. McManus

This sequel to One of Us Is Lying is intense, twisty, and seriously hard to put down. There is a prequel and the new game at Bayview is truth or dare. Picking truth might reveal your darkest secrets, and choosing dare might be dangerous, even lethal.

What it’s about

The main characters are the younger siblings and friends of the original Bayview crew. When the anonymous truth-or-dare game starts up, it quickly gets out of control. Secrets spill, people get hurt, and it becomes clear that someone is using the game for something much darker. The main characters have to work together to find the culprit because people are dying because of the game.

What I liked

The pacing is fast and the twists keep coming. I liked how the new characters still connect to the first book but have their own voices and problems. The stakes feel higher this time because the dares can actually be deadly. There is also a good amount of romance woven into the mystery, which makes you care even more about who makes it out alive.
